Hello,
Two things occurred. One was a long rambling dream, the re-telling of which is not important in the least, but in which the main character, me I guess, decided to write. Since I am a painter, not a writer and the internet is so generous in providing tools, I settled on a Blog (both in my dream and now as I write). The other thing that happened was at a party. I had been drinking wine, pretty good wine if I remember and regaling an acquittance with my repertoire of life stories. In the midst of being passionately demonstrative about some forgotten point, I, feeling the spirit of the good wine, dropped the glass on the floor and watched it shatter with the red liquid and glass going everywhere. I was kind of transfixed by the beauty of the event as well as how damned inappropriate it was. She said, you should write this stuff! Fuzzily, I said “maybe I will” as my wife and I left the party. That was a few years back but I remember it only because of my blogging dream.

So, I have taken the first steps here. Who knows where it will lead, if anywhere. It has no point per se, other then to write about things that move me to do so. It may be completely incoherent. It may be self contradictory since I am. My stories may be relevant but also my politics and views on art. Memories of events as well as my momentary and fleeting opinions may too make there way here and than again I may never write again. I may also ramble about nothing in particular. I have been accused of this.

Briefly, in list form:
1-I was born in NYC in 1948
2-I dropped out high school in 1964
3-I lived in Israel 1965 and hitchhiked from Istanbul to Munich in 1966
4-Was very politically active for years
5-Left NYC in 1971
6-Went to college (UNM) first as a biology major but graduated as a painter.
7-Went to Yale School of Art and graduated with a MFA in 1981
8-Started teaching painting and drawing at New Mexico State University 1981 and retired 2008
9-I am about to turn 60 (perhaps there is motivation to be found in that)
10-Had my blog dream and so here I am.

With that I open my can of worms…
